The session organizers involved in this year's #EURegionsWeek were invited to a third partners' meeting on 26 June. The aim of the virtual meeting was to provide them with more specific information on the organization of the #EURegionsWeek 2020, given the exceptional situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, the European Week of Regions and Cities will spread over three consecutive weeks in October, each dedicated to one timely topic:

  • 5-9 October: Empowering Citizens,
  • 12-16 October: Cohesion and cooperation,
  • 19-22 October: Green Europe, in cooperation with the Green Week.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the related health and safety measures, the majority of the 500 sessions will be in fully digital format. Among the exceptions are key events and workshops requiring interpretation, which are going to be organized in a hybrid format (online with a limited physical presence). Some events such as exhibitions and regional tastings can be either digital or physical.

Registration for the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities will open on 27 August 2020.
